Lesson based on song "Head, shoulders, knees and toes."

1. Intro PPT
2. What's missing

Cute version

This is a bit dated, but my 1st graders like it as a game, you can do it without the video and just follow the song.

Monster Lesson

Review parts of the body
1. Monster Book PPT
2. How many Monster PPT
I mix numbers with the body parts and ask students to draw what I describe. Then have them make their own monster and describe it to a friend. You can have students come to the board and describe their monster while a classmate draws it on the board.

Fun animation of the book

Beginning is a review of prepositions using Simon's Cat 'The Box' - under, in front of, beside, over, etc

For the body part of the lesson, I use a dice (cube wrapped in paper normally does the trick - emphasis the words 'roll' and not 'throw'!) with head/arm/leg etc on it.

Start by drawing a body (I normally do a triangle or star)

The students role the dice after answering a question correctly and then draw the body part onto their teams body. The team that gets all the body parts win. This can be stopped if the students get restless, or for added competition, start with a complete monster and student roll to erase the body part of their chosen team off.
